Wasn’t last night gorgeous?
The Garden was open late (til 9 p.m.) as part of Flowers After 5. We’re partnering with Total Wine on Thursday nights through the end of September (and hoping to add October!) with wine-tasting, live jazz, dining and shopping. The location is in the Rose Garden, which is a perfect outdoor setting.
As you know, certain foods and wines pair well together while others do not. It’s also important to consider herbs and their effect. Here are a few considerations:
Rosemary has a strong, pungent flavor—think of a leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic. Since it would overpower a dry white wine, a good choice would be a Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.
Tarragon, such as a tarragon cream sauce on seafood, would work well with a Pinot Blanc.
Herbs de Provence on grilled chicken would call for a rich Chardonnay.
Tell us if you have a favorite pairing. Cheers!
